An ankle fracture may involve two joints of the ankle:

  • Ankle joint – where the tibia, fibula, and talus meet
  • Syndesmosis joint – the joint between the tibia and fibula
Causes:

  • Inability to stand or walk
  • Lack of movement
  • Joint deformity
  • X-rays

  • MRI
Treatment
Non-Surgical

Non Surgical undisplaced fractures especially old people are traeted in conservatively

  • Immobilization – cast
  • Surgical

    Surgical Displaced fractures and compound fractures are treated surgically

    • Open reduction and internal fixation with Screws, Plates , Wires
